Water
Company Consults its Customers
Cascal
owned, BOURNEMOUTH & WEST HAMPSHIRE WATER will be consulting its customers
regarding their priorities during June 2003.
The
survey is linked to the water industry's next price review scheduled
to be fixed by the Water Regulator, Ofwat, in November 2004.
Managing
Director, Tony Cooke said: "It is only right that our customers should
have a say over priorities for the 2005 to 2010 period where there is
some discretion over standards. This is the first stage of a lengthy
and detailed process. We wish to reflect our customers' views in our
business planning process."
In
August, the company will be presenting its draft business plan to Ofwat,
which will reflect mandatory water quality, and environmental requirements
specified by Government, as well as priority improvements specified
by customers where there is some discretion. The company is working
with Ofwat and WaterVoice Wessex in compiling the questionnaire to ensure
balance. The survey, which will be undertaken by phone, will build upon
national research undertaken by Ofwat, The Drinking Water Inspectorate,
WaterVoice, the Environment Agency, English Nature, RSPB, and the Industry
at the end of last year.
Tony
Cooke added: "We want to understand the regional differences from the
national research, and areas of improvement specifically valued by our
customers. We will publish the results with the public draft domain
version of our business plan at the end of August. Our final business
plan has to be submitted to Ofwat in April 2004."
