BOURNEMOUTH
& WEST HANTS. WATER SPONSORS CHILDREN'S COMPETITION IN SCHOOLS

Cascal
owned, BOURNEMOUTH AND WEST HAMPSHIRE WATER sponsored a local primary
school competition. The theme was "drinking water" and the regional
winning entries will be published in a book where all proceeds will
go to the UK "Wateraid" charity.
"WaterAid
is the UK's only major charity dedicated exclusively to the provision
of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene promotion to the world's
poorest people. WaterAid's vision is of a world where all people have
access to safe water and effective sanitation."
All
children in 101 schools in the area were invited to take part and through
their art, represent the importance of having clean water. The entries,
both literary and artistic, were put on display and water company staff
and some of their older children acted as judges.
The
winning schools were St Katherine's Primary School, Southbourne, and
Poulner Junior School, Ringwood. These schools were delighted to receive
a prize of £700 each. The children who won first prize of £100 each
were Sophie Baldwin from Poulner Junior for her picture, They can't
drink dirty water for ever, and Rachael Pennell from St Katherine's
for her poem, Water why? These entries were sent to London to be judged
in the national children's competition, organised by the Drinking Water
Inspectorate.
