Yanjiao
- China

History
- Located in the Heibei Province on the bank of Chaobai River, Yanjiao
Economic & Technological Development Zone (ETDZ) faces Beijing across
the river. It is 30 kilometers east of Tianamen Square and lies in the
hinterland of the “Golden Triangle” between Beijing, Tianjin
and Tangshan.
In late 1999, the
Yanjiao ETDZ was ratified as a provincial level high-tech industrial
zone. Since then it has developed rapidly and has now become a new satellite
town of Beijing. The zone covers an area of more than 30km² and
integrates science and technology with manufacturing, tourism, finance
and commercial activities. It has attracted more than 10 countries of
investors from USA, Canada, Germany, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong,
etc. with total capital investment of USD 600 million.
Partnership
- The water supply system comprises borehole raw water extraction,
chlorination, treated water storage and pumping.
The water treatment
and supply facilities have been constructed in two phases and currently
have a maximum output of 60Mld. The first and smaller phase involved
renovation of an existing 20Mld water treatment works. This is currently
only operated once a month to ensure it functions correctly and is maintained
purely as a standby plant.
 |
Developments
- The second and larger phase required the construction of
a new 40Mld water treatment works. Both plants are fed from three
borehole sites comprising a total of 20 wells up to 300 meters deep,
approximately 10 kilometres from the facilities. The operating level
of the pumps is approximately 22 metres below ground, which is to
ensure reliable and sustainable supply of high quality water.
The second phase
treatment plant comprises:
Two 4000m³ treated water storage tanks
High lift pumping
A chlorine dosing plant comprising a drum store with an adjacent emergency
neutralization system
Two duty, one stand-by chlorinators
Associated control systems to run the plant.
This plant was officially opened in August 2003.
The Yanjiao CWC
has ISO9001 accreditation covering the operation of the facilities.
